Netflix Is Making a Show Set in the Adirondacks. They Want North Country People in It.
Netflix is casting North Country residents for The God of the Woods, an Adirondack-set drama series filming June through October. No acting experience required.
Netflix and Sony Pictures Television are producing a series adaptation of Liz Moore’s bestselling novel “The God of the Woods” — and they want Adirondack locals in it.
The casting office of Laura Rosenthal is seeking North Country residents between the ages of 20 and 69, of all genders, for roles in the series. Filming runs June 1 through October 1.
What They Are Looking For
The production is specifically seeking people with authentic North Country accents and regional familiarity. If you say “acrost” instead of “across,” or put “the” before street names and locations, you may be exactly what they want.
To apply, email a headshot to srathecasting@gmail.com. Include a resume and a reel if you have one, confirm your availability during the June 1 to October 1 shooting window, and note any scheduling conflicts.
About the Show
“The God of the Woods” is set in the Adirondacks in the 1960s and 1970s and centers on the wealthy Van Laar family’s great camp after a 13-year-old girl goes missing from a nearby summer camp. The novel spent 38 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list.
Maya Hawke and Oscar nominee Kerry Condon are among the cast. Condon plays a mother whose daughter goes missing.
One Catch
The Adirondacks are the setting — but not the filming location. The Greater Adirondack Film Commission scouted camps in the region with the production crew, but the series will film in Beacon and the Hudson Valley, roughly 90 minutes south of New York City.
Still, they want the real thing when it comes to people. If you have the accent, now is the time to use it.
