Lake Placid Electric Department Employee Airlifted After Contact with Live Wire on Route 73
Stuart Spotts, an employee of the Lake Placid Municipal Electric Department, was airlifted to Upstate University Hospital’s major burn unit Friday after contacting a live wire on Route 73 near Adirondack Loj Road.
A Lake Placid Municipal Electric Department employee was airlifted to a burn unit Friday afternoon after coming into contact with a live wire while working on a repair job near Adirondack Loj Road.
Stuart Spotts had been part of a crew working to repair a faulty underground electrical line along state Route 73 in the vicinity of Adirondack Loj Road when he came in contact with a live wire. He was transported to Upstate University Hospital's major burn unit.
The incident occurred around 3 p.m.
Village Mayor Art Devlin issued a statement saying the village is focusing its energy on support of the people involved and asked for thoughts and prayers. He added that provisions had been made to ensure day-to-day operations continue.
