Adirondack Regional Airport Is Getting an $8.5 Million Makeover. They Need Someone to Run the New Café.
The Town of Harrietstown is looking for a café operator as part of an $8.5 million airport renovation funded by New York State.
The Town of Harrietstown is looking for a business or individual to operate a new café at the Adirondack Regional Airport — part of a major renovation funded by an $8.5 million state grant.
The project, backed by New York's Upstate Airport Economic Development and Revitalization program, will expand the airport's existing café from 992 square feet to 1,420 square feet and relocate it next to a renovated passenger terminal. The renovation also includes solar panels on the roof, an expanded central receiving area, and updated furniture, lighting, ventilation, water, and air conditioning.
The town is currently accepting Requests for Expression of Interest from qualified operators. Interested parties should submit a brief outline of their background, proposed café concept, and relevant experience to Airport Manager Corey Hurwitch at airportmanager@harrietstown.org with the subject line "Café REI," or by mail to 96 Airport Rd, Saranac Lake, NY 12983.
The airport commercially serves Boston and New York City through Cape Air under the federal Essential Air Service program, with approximately 4,600 outbound passengers annually. Another 1,322 general aviation arrivals use the airport each year, many of whom use café services for catering.
The café renovation is expected to be completed mid-summer 2026. The REI period will remain open until a formal Request for Proposals is issued.
