Our Data Policy

We built this site for the community, not for data collection. Here is exactly what we store and what we do not.

What We Collect

If you create an account: your email address, a display name if you choose to provide one, and your general location if you choose to share it. That is it. No phone number. No real name required.

If you file a report: the text of your report and any photos you attach. Nothing else. Your IP address is never recorded.

If you submit a grievance number: your old and new assessment values and your neighborhood. No name. No address. No account required.

What We Do Not Collect

We do not log IP addresses. We do not use tracking pixels. We do not run analytics that identify individual users. We do not sell data. We do not share data with third parties.

Photos and EXIF Data

Every photo submitted through this site is automatically processed to remove EXIF metadata before storage. This includes GPS coordinates, device model, serial number, and timestamp. We cannot hand over what we do not have.

Documents

Every document served from the Records archive passes through a metadata removal engine before being delivered to your browser. Authorship data, creation timestamps, editing history, and embedded GPS coordinates are stripped from every file.

Where Your Data Lives

Our origin server is physically located in the Tri-Lakes region of New York. All traffic passes through Cloudflare’s network before reaching it — which means your IP address never reaches our server directly. Your data does not live in a corporate cloud. It stays here.

How Long We Keep It

Account data is kept as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from your profile — tap your name in the header, go to the Account tab, and select Delete My Account. Deletion is immediate and permanent.

Submitted reports that are not published are deleted within 30 days of receipt.

If We Are Ever Asked

We cooperate with lawful legal process. However, because we do not log IP addresses and strip identifying metadata from photos and documents, the information we are able to provide is limited by design. We will notify you of any legal request if we are legally permitted to do so.
